Presentation of ANGOA
ANGOA (Agence Nationale de Gestion des Œuvres Audiovisuelles) is the collective management organization (OGC) of the rights of French producers in the field of the full and simultaneous retransmission of certain television programs by third party organizations (cable network operators , ADSL, satellite packages, etc.).
Mission
ANGOA was created on the initiative of French producers in 1981, at the same time as AGICOA (Association de Gestion Internationale Collective des Œuvres Audiovisuelles based in Geneva, whose social purpose takes up that of ANGOA at the international level), following the various European jurisprudences having recognized to the producers a right to additional remuneration in the event of resumption of their programs on the cabled networks (cf. in particular the CODITEL business in Belgium). ANGOA is now approved by the Ministry of Culture for the purpose of ensuring the collection and distribution of program retransmission rights by cable, in application of the provisions of the European Cab-Sat directive of 1993, transposed into French law. in 1997, which provide for compulsory collective management in this area.
Historically centered on cable, ANGOA's activities now extend to other networks (satellite, ADSL, 3G telephony, etc.) the evolution of the technical methods of retransmission of TV programs. This extension of the collective management of the right of retransmission to other modes of retransmission than cable will be consecrated by the forthcoming transposition into French law of European Directive No. 2019/789, known as Cab-Sat 2.
< br> Chaired since 1994 by Alain SUSSFELD, it now brings together more than 700 French production companies, distributors and rights holders, all the professional organizations of film and audiovisual producers, as well as holders of foreign rights (in particular studios American) through the cooperation agreement that binds our company to AGICOA.
